A Significant Event!

There is something VERY significant about this picture...actually, there are a couple of significant things. Can you guess what they are, huh? Can you guess? Think about it for a minute. Do you know what it is a picture of? Yep, lunch! And guess who the lunch is for? Yep, me! Holy crap! Do you know how long it has been since I have had lunch? Seriously, this is a noteworthy EVENT!!!

And the second thing to notice about the picture: No, it isn't that it really isn't that healthy of a lunch. Hey, it has yummy peppered turkey and delicious Provolone cheese on it. And Doritos are just plain yummy. The Pepsi, well, that is just a necessity some days. Have you noticed yet?

Well, let me point it out to you...Do you notice that the sandwich is almost gone? This means I was actually able to EAT my lunch. I didn't make lunch and have a kid want to eat it or have to toss it because I had to run and take care of the kids! It is especially significant because....

THESE TWO GOOBERS WERE SITTING ACROSS THE COUNTER FROM ME!
And they didn't even eat my food. They had finished their sandwiches and were munching on chips. YAHOOO!!! It feels great to eat lunch!

My husband will die at this picture. I know we are so trashy. My son is in a dress-up and my daughter has a dress-up on that is WAY too big for her, so she looks like a hussie. Thank goodness for a Family-Size Dorito bag! And if I could have been in the picture, you would see that I look horrid. No shower yet today. I am waiting for nap time for that, but I ATE LUNCH!
Now, where are my cookies?

60 Questions Meme

This little Meme is kind of fun. Thank you for something to write about, Blackeyedsue. My life is kinda on the dull side right now. It's hard to find something to blog about some days. Life won't be boring for long though...Next week will start a month of craziness!!! So, here's the Meme:

1. What is in the back of your car right now? Car seats, a few wrappers, an umbrella stroller, and most likely a binkie or two and maybe a sippy cup. I don't visit the back of my car too often!
2. When was the last time you threw up? This one is very sad for me. I barfed in the middle of the night right after Thanksgiving. I had strep throat and had taken way too much ibuprofen trying to function to make dinner and I didn't eat much, so it was just too much for my tummy to handle. Dang it. It was so sad for me because I was on a roll. It was my only "claim to fame": Before that I hadn't barfed since the third grade. My streak was broken at 21 years. Dang it! Now I will try for 22 years!!!
3. What's your favorite curse word? I only get one? That would have to be damn it! (if I only get one)
4. Name 3 people who made you smile today? Amy, Hayden, and Rylee
5. What were you doing at 8 am this morning? I was getting Rylee ready to go out the door for school.
6. What were you doing 30 minutes ago? Talking to the cable guy, who is at our house right now.
7. What will you be doing 3 hours from now? Making dinner, cleaning up dinner, and putting kids in baths/showers. you know, the nightly routine!
8. Have you ever been to a strip club? Heck, no! (I almost said "yes" just to see how long it would take for my mom to call me. Hehehe. That's one way to find out how often she checks my blog!)
9. What is the last thing you said aloud? "In just a minute, Lana." She asked me when the cable guy was coming back in the house because he is working outside right now.
10. What is the best ice cream flavor? Cookies N Cream. (With big Oreo chunks)
11. What was the last thing you had to drink? Pepsi. Still drinking it. It has been one of those days.
12. What are you wearing right now? Light blue t-shirt with jacket over it (see Valentine's Day post - yep, that shirt) and jeans. Gray socks.
13. What was the last thing you ate? Cookies. Shocker, I know.
14. Have you bought any new clothing items this week? For me, no. But we bought some clothes for Lana's birthday.
15. When was the last time you ran? For exercise, maybe high school? I HATE running!!! If you count chasing kids, about ten minutes ago to keep Hayden from running outside to "help" the cable guy.
16. What's the last sporting event you watched? The Superbowl.
17. Is your TV on? Nope. It would be, but the cable guy is working on it right now. He really needs to hurry!
18. Who is the last person you emailed? My Dad.
19. Ever go camping? I have been before, but not for a long time. Don't plan to go for a while either. Not until the kids are a bit older. I like tents in the family room!
20. Do you have a tan? No way. Number one, it is February. Number two, I have had one too many sunburns. Ouch. Not worth it - especially if those burns cause cancer.
24. Do you drink your soda from a straw? At home, no. When we are out at, for instance, Subway, is there any other way?
25. What did your last IM say? Don't remember. I'm not a huge IMer.
26. Are you someone's best friend? Don't know. Sure hope so.
27. What are you doing tomorrow? Same ol' stuff. Taking care of kids, laundry, dinner, you know...
28. Where is your mom right now? Don't know. She went visiting teaching earlier. But she should be home now. So she is probably helping my sister who just had a baby or is out shopping.
29. Look to your left, what do you see? Kitchen table with two binkies on it, a baggie of tootsie rolls, a baggie of cereal, and two library books.
30. What color is your watch? Silver and pink.
31. What do you think of when you think of Australia? Koala bears. My dream is to someday go to Australia and hold a baby Koala bear.
32. Would you consider plastic surgery? Does Botox count? Probably not, but if it does...ABSOLUTELY! (A butt lift might be nice too. I am way to lazy to exercise.)
33. What is your birthstone? Ruby.
34. Do you go in at a fast food place or just hit the drive thru? Drive thru.
35. How many kids do you want? Four.
36. Do you have a dog? Nope. My kids think I am a mean mom. We will get one someday...after all the kids are potty-trained.
37. Last person you talked to on the phone? The cable guy when he called to tell me he was on his way.
38. Have you met anyone famous? Kind of - celebrities for Mormons! I went to a sealing that Neal A. Maxwell performed and was eating lunch in the mall in Salt Lake with some friends from Houston who came to visit and Sheri Dew walked by to go into her store.
39. Any plans today? Yep, survive.
40. How many states have you lived in? Three
41. Ever go to college? Just a little bit. I wish I could finish. Someday...
42. Where are you right now? In my family room.
43. Biggest annoyance in your life right now? My calling. That is all I should say.
44. Last song listened to? Tubthumping by Chumbawumba. I just think it's funny.
46. Are you allergic to anything? Grass, cats, hairy dogs, cantaloupe, and apparently now penicillin (I had an allergic reaction to it in January).
47. Favorite pair of shoes you wear all the time? A pair Bill got me for Christmas. Comfy brown-with-a-bit-of-reddish-stuff-on-them Sketchers.
48. Are you jealous of anyone? Yes. Anyone on vacation. I need one.
49. Is anyone jealous of you? Heavens, no.
50. Where is your idea of a dream vacation? I know it is so boring, but to take my husband to Hawaii for two weeks and just relax. Hawaii is beautiful and I would love for him to see it. And then I could walk around for two weeks with Plumerias stuck to my nose again. MMMMM.
51. What time is it? 4:16 p.m. I need to hurry and finish this before Rylee comes home and the homework/dinner/bath chaos begins.
52. Do any of your friends have children? I think all of them do.
53. Do you eat healthy? See #11 and #13. Any questions? I have a magnet on my fridge that says "In my next life I will be thin. Pass the cookies." Might as well enjoy life.
54. What do you usually do during the day? Sigh. Get up, get kids ready, shower if I am lucky, make lunch, clean up lunch, do crap, I mean stuff, for my calling, entertain kids, talk to a friend or two on the phone, put a kid in time-out, make dinner, clean up dinner, you know...
55. Do you hate anyone right now? Nope.
56. Do you use the word 'hello' daily? Yes. I always say that to answer the phone.
58. How old will you be turning on your next birthday? Dang it. This keeps haunting me. For the billionth time...I AM TURNING THIRTY!!!
59. Have you ever been to Six Flags? No. Don't really want to go either. I am a real stick in the mud, but I hate roller coasters since I have had kids.
60. How did you get one of your scars? I have a chicken pox scar on my arm. I love it because I was jealous of my sister when she caught chicken pox because she got to stay home from school and I was determined that I had them too. So I went to my room, took off all my clothes and did an entire body search. To my excitement, I found one on my upper arm! That just happens to be the one that scarred.

Rubbermaids for Rubbermaids

I have Rubbermaids (or Sterilites) EVERYWHERE in my house. A small sampling:

This is my medicine cabinet. I have the kids' medicine in one container, adult medicine in another container, first aid stuff in another one, and a stash of candle crap and baby bibs in another one.

This is part of the pantry. More Rubbermaid organization. I just didn't show you the corner of the pantry where the candy stash is. Ever since Valentine's Day, that corner has exploded. I need to just throw it all away. But you get the idea.

This is in my girls' closet. See...I even have Rubbermaids in Rubbermaids. Go figure. Marketing genius, I tell you. Non-divided drawers. Then people have to buy more Rubbermaids to keep the drawers organized. Socks in one container, underwear and tights in another. Shoes on top in two more containers. Jammies in the bottom drawer. Great system.

I even have our DVD's in one. That way I can turn the whole thing so the drawers face the wall so my little munchkin-DVD-destroyer-son can't get into them. This system may have to change soon though. His big sister takes pity on him and helps him turn the dang thing now. I just hope he ruins one of HER favorite DVD's:) But still, DVD organization.

So what do I do with this mess? I need to "Rubbermaid" all of my Rubbermaids. On the weekends it looks even worse than this because my husband takes some to work for his lunches during the week. But on the weekend, we have to throw them in there and shut the cupboard door quick. Again, marketing genius. Ugh.

I'm An Uncle!

Hehehe. Okay, I am an aunt...again. But this time is so fun! (Not that I don't love my nieces.) I have my first NEPHEW!!! This makes me so excited! Now Hayden will have a boy cousin. We are all so excited to welcome this sweet new baby into our family.

Details: My sister had her fourth baby last night at about 7:30. She has three sweet girls and this is her first boy. He is just as adorable as her girls are. He definitely fits their family mold. He weighed 6 pounds, 3 ounces and was 19 inches long. He has a little bit of blonde hair and has the most beautiful coloring. He looks great and has been a great baby for the first whole 17 hours of his life.

My sister is a hero. She has had kids who have been sick with that horrible Type A Influenza that has been going around. This past week she was in the emergency room with her alomst two-year old because she couldn't breathe. The whole time she was there she was contracting, but luckily no baby. Then all week she has been back and forth to the doctor with her daughter, taking care of her other kids who are sick with the same crap, and trying to keep her head above water because she ended up catching the stuff as well. Poor girl. I don't know how she made it through. I would have thrown in the towel.

Two nights ago when she was getting pretty sick herself, she got a blessing and recovered and was well enough to push out a baby last night. And luckily her kids seem to be on the mend as well. So, please join with us in praying for her that her whole family can stay healthy so her baby won't catch that horrible stuff.

Welcome to the world, little Buddy! We love you and you are very blessed to have been sent to such awesome parents and sisters!!!

P.S. I will post pictures soon. I just need to ask for permission to put my nieces' and nephew's picutres on our blog!!!

Our Love Day Pictures

I am normally kind of a Valentine's Day scrooge. That has had to change since I have had kids. Now I have to do fun things for them. So here are our Valentine's Day adventures:

When Rylee got home from school she saw that Bill had given me roses and she said, "I wish someone would do something nice for me." Pout, pout, pout. Poor picked on girl. I replied, "Well, you haven't even been in your room yet, have you." The little stinker.

So, she went down the hall into her room and found that "someone" had done something nice for her, and she got the biggest grin on her face. Kind of an "eat crow - embarrassed" kind of grin. She saw that I had "heart attacked" their walls with a ton of things I love about them and had put Valentine's Day jammies with a treat and Valentine card on their bed - all in the middle of a bunch of pink and red balloons.

So this is the first picture.

The girls on their bed with their new Valentine P.J.'s on. The stinkers!!!

Then, every year I make the same cake so that it looks like a valentine for the kids. This is the top view...

And here is the side view of the lovely cake. I know, it isn't professional, but the kids like it.

This is Kate as she was sitting on my bed with me the evening of Valentine's Day. I love just sitting with her and playing with her.

Can you feel the love? I love a snuggly baby in new jammies. Have I mentioned she is a fun baby!?

Bill (in his sexy shirt) getting ready to put Hayden in his bed. They were reading all of the hearts that I put on his door for his little "heart attack." Hayden is obviously so interested. Feelin' the love again!
I know there are no pictures of Bill and I together, but you know how it is with four kids?! I have decided that Valentine's Day is more for kids and our anniversary can be about Bill and I. Either way, happy Valentine's Day!! (Okay, it is late, but it's the thought that counts!)

Kate's First Pony Tail

I finally decided to put a pony tail in Kate's hair, and now I know why I waited so long. She looks like such a big girl with her hair pulled up like that!

Kate being held by Lana. I needed someone to hold her up so I could get a shot of her pony tail. They were both giggling. I love this picture.

Big-eyed baby girl! And oh, so serious. Lana is still getting a kick out of being such a big sister.

Gotta have the binkie shots! So, Bill and I think Kate looks the most like Lana out of our other kids. What do you think?

Our Athletic Weekend

Our family believes in being athletic. We are always moving and making our kids constantly exercise. Bill and I each work out at least two hours per day and hope our kids will someday follow in our footsteps....

Okay, that is a big fat lie. However, we did have sort of an "athletic" weekend, if you want to call it that. But you must notice who isn't in any of the "athletic" pictures. Yep, me. I would much rather sit on my bum and blog and eat junk food...

Bill is being Kate's personal trainer. She needs to work on some serious rolls. So he is teaching her to do push-ups. We believe in starting them young. Working out is all too important. Okay, so it is just a cute picture, but I thought it fit with the "working out" theme.

This is Hayden with his new t-ball set that he got for his birthday. He loves to hit the ball. He needs to work on the form a little bit, and it would help his swing if he would let go of the binkie so he can actually hold the bat. But, hey, the kid is two. At least he is excited about the bat and ball. This makes daddy proud!

This is what we did this past weekend. I was sick and tired of all the dang snow and decided I needed the girls to run and play. So I took them to play racquetball for the first time. Look at Rylee whack the ball. She actually hit it pretty good. Lana played with the racquet for a while and then decided it was more fun to throw the ball at the wall or at me. So fun to go play with my girls!!! We all needed it.

What were you doing ten years ago?

Let's see...That was a long time ago. Hang on. Oh, I remember. I was kind of being a little hussie :) because I was writing to a missionary, deciding to stop dating another dude, and was just barely starting to hang out with Bill. He obviously won! YAY Bill! Poor sap. If he'd have only known.

5 Things on my "to-do" list today...

- Vacuum (No, I didn't get it done yesterday. Dang it.)
- Plan Rylee's class Valentine's Day party
- Make dinner
- Organize the medicine cabinet
- More laundry (that is ALWAYS on the "to-do" list)

6 Snacks that I enjoy...

- Doritos
- Cookies
- Oreo Shakes
- Flavor Blasted Xtreme Cheddar Goldfish (Can you tell I have kids?)
- Hot fudge brownies
- Cake

3 Bad Habits...

- I always weigh myself
- I dig my own hands with my nails when I am nervous
- I stay in the bath way too long

If I were suddenly a billionaire I would...

I would buy a huge plot of land and offer to move all of our close friends out there with us and put a big fence around the whole property so the kids could all safely run and play. Then I would pay off my in-law's house and make sure their retirement is secure, and to the same for my parents. Then I would buy my dream car: a yellow Mustang convertible. I would have to buy a new practical family car too. And, of course, Bill would get his dream car as well. Then we would invest and save the rest.

5 Places I've Lived...

- Aurora, Utah (kind of by Richfield)
- Orem
- Pocatello
- Layton
- Spring, Texas (by Houston)

5 Jobs I've Had...

- Bagger at Albertsons
- Checker at Albertsons
- Assistant Front-End Manager at Albertsons
- Worked in an insurance office
- Mom

5 Things People Don't Know About Me...

- I hate high chairs for babies. I think they are a waste of space and money. I just get the cheap little booster - type seats and put them on a kitchen chair.
- Bill and I went to Washington D.C. on our honeymoon. While there, I fell down the stairs at the Library of Congress. Proud moment. Bill was very proud of his new bride.
- I love to watch BYU/Utah football games with Bill and we make "bets" on who will win because he is a Utah fan, and I am a BYU fan.
- I have never tasted plums (and truth be told, I don't really want to)
- When I was younger, my baby brother couldn't say my name, so he called me "Wee-wee" and the name has stuck into adulthood. My family still calls me that once in a while. (Either that or Hell, instead of Hil, but we won't go there). Wee-wee really fits though because I have a tiny bladder. I am terrible to travel with.

5 People I'm Tagging...

- Jenn
- Andrea
- Laurie
- Shannon
- Whoever else wants to write a fun little thing about themselves!!!

It's Monday - AGAIN!

Yep, it's Monday...AGAIN. I love Mondays. There isn't a better day. I love cleaning my house while the kids trash all of the rooms I'm not cleaning at the time. I love not taking a shower until 4 or 5 o'clock in the afternoon because my whole day is spent cleaning and then cleaning again so the house looks like I have cleaned it when Bill gets home. I really, really love Mondays....WHATEVER!!!

If I live in a circus tent, aren't those dirty by definition because of all of the little "circus animals" running around in it? Besides cleaning up poop, am I really obligated to keep the tent clean? I'm looking for any excuse here.

Okay, even if that was a good excuse I couldn't let my house be disgusting because it would drive me crazy. I think I definitely have a major case of O.C.D. when it comes to that.

But as I was cleaning today, and I must admit almost every Monday, this little song comes into my head. It was a song I heard on the radio years ago and since it is a catchy little tune, it has stuck. It isn't a positive song, so if you don't want negativity about Mondays permanently engrained in your head I suggest you stop reading right now because I promise it will stick! Last chance...

Okay, you must hate Mondays like I do. The song is to the tune of the "Mickey Mouse Club March" song. You know the one where they spell Mickey's name. Only this song says, "M-O-N-D-A-Y S-U-C-K-S. Monday sucks, Monday sucks...." I have tried to change the second word to something else, but the obly five letter words I can come up with are negative ones. I have "Monday blows, Monday bites..." You get the gist. The only other five letter word I came up with that was positive was "Monday rocks", but that is just pushing it too far. Monday definitely does NOT rock. So you come up with your own song.

But for now I will stick with "Monday Sucks" and try to change my thinking a little bit. You know - the whole "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade" theory. Again, nothing fun about Mondays. So here is the best I can do.

My whole family is addicted to the comedian Brian Regan. He is hilarious. Good, clean, non-inuendoized (I know that isn't a word, but it fit and it's Monday, so don't mess with me) humor. If you haven't seen him or heard any of his stuff, I would highly reccommend it. He is, as my dad would say, "Funnier than a one-legged man in a butt kickin' contest." So click on the link below to see a clip and then if you like him check out some of his other stuff.

That is the best I can do to help Monday improve. I just need a laugh, and hopefully this will help you laugh too. If not, well, make your own dang lemonade!

Birthdays!

I have been so busy that I didn't out together a little tribute to Rylee, who turned seven last month. This time of year is so busy for us. Bill and three of our kids all have brithdays within about six weeks of each other. So I will lump Rylee and Hayden's birthdays together, and then lump Bill and Lana's together in a couple of weeks. So, here goes:

HAPPY #7 RYLEE
I can't believe that my oldest is already seven. Where has the time gone? I feel so old. She is the one who has been nicknamed Rylee Smiley, and it fits. She is such a sweetheart and has been a good girl ever since she was born. She is the kind that we look forward to hearing what her teachers say at parent-teacher conferences because it is always so positive. She tries so hard to be a big helper and is so loving to her brother and sisters.

My favorite quality in Rylee: Definitely her sense of humor. She thinks everything is hilarious! The littlest thing can send her into the biggest laughing fit. I love it! You know the kind of person you love to watch a movie with because they laugh so hard? Well, that is her. She definitely helps me see humor in things.

Another great quality: She isn't afraid to be the nice one at school even if it makes her uncool herself. I sure hope that quality sticks. She can't handle seeing others lonely or hurting. If I ever have a bad day, she colors me pictures or brings me treats to make me feel better. What a sweet girl.

A fun talent she has: The girl can draw! Ask her to draw anything from Spongebob and she can. I love her version of Squidward. That one is my favorite. She is very creative and would draw all day if she could.

There are so many fun things I could list about Rylee, but I will save some of them for other posts. I love this kid. She is such a light in our family.

Brighteyed Rylee. She woke up so early because she was so excited for her birthday. You would have thought it was Christmas or something. Can you tell it was early? Her little cheeks are still rosy from sleeping.

Huff and Puff Rylee!!! But please don't spit on the cake!!!

Yummy! Licking the frosting off of the candles is so fun! Rylee loved having so many fun people come celebrate her birthday with her. In this picture you can see her Grandma Eccleston as well as her best buddy helping her lick frosting!

And next...

HAPPY #2 HAYDEN!!!
Now, for the Hayden Buddy! (That is what he is always called. I don't know if he will ever be anything to us other than Hayden Buddy.) He just turned two yesterday! He has been such a good boy for us. I think he was born smiling. What a contageous smile he has. It is hard to believe that I wasn't excited to have a boy. He has been a riot! There is just something special about a sweet boy. Here are some of my favorites:

Hayden is such a giggler. He loves it when we are just silly. He goes to bed laughing almost every night just because he constantly giggles. And you can just pull a funny face at him and he will go nuts. I love the kid. So easy-going!

I love that he always wants to have at least two binkies with him. Funny boy! I know I should really break him of this habit, but I find it so endearing. I will do it soon, just give me a little longer!

He has picked up on some definite boy stuff. For instance, I was cleaning the bathrooms on Monday and he wanted to help. So he swished the toilet with the toilet brush for a minute then squealed, "I did it...YAY!" It was so cute. Normally at this point he would give me a five, but this time when I tried to get him to he said, "No, knucks!" It took me a minute to realize what he was talking about. But my brother-in-law taught him how to give "knucks" (you know - like what Howie Mandell does on Deal or No Deal because he hates to shake hands). It is hilarious. Now the kid asks for "knucks" all day. I love it!

He is also such a tease. I love when he does anything he can to just get one of us to laugh. He will fold his arms during prayers and then giggle just a little to try to make someone laugh, or do something else silly. I love that!

Again, there are so many things we love about him. But if I tell them all now, what do I write about later? We love you, buddy!

Oh, yeah! A remote control car! Hayden loves to open presents. He still rips the paper off just a little bit at a time. That's okay; it makes the fun last longer!

Does this look like four kids ready to pounce or what? Lana and her best little buddy down the street look like they had something put in their snack at pre-school. Maybe they are just partied out!

Look at that smile. The whole "birthday party hastle" is worth this picture right here! I love it!

Oh, let's see...Can I get this bite in my mouth before the ice cream drops off of the bottom of my spoon? It is certainly worth a try!

We are so lucky to have such fun and unique kids. We love all of their little traits they come with (yes, even the not-so-fun ones) and wish sometimes they just wouldn't grow up so fast:( I guess all we can do is enjoy them, and we sure try to!

C- Cake or Pie? Cake, unless we are talking apple pie. Then I take pie first hands down.
D- Day of Choice? Saturday!
E- Essential Item? Can I have three? In our house it is binkeys for Kate and Hayden, Sippy cups (wow, a mom had to be the inventor of those), and for me: Ziplock baggies. I use them for everything!

G- Gummy Bears or Worms? Ick! Neither!
H- Hometown? Utah - all over.

X-ray or Ultrasound? Well, since I have never had an x-ray, I would have to say Ultrasound.
Y- Your favorite food? Duh, cookies!!! If I have to say my favorite REAL food, that would be Olive Garden's Chicken Fettucini Alfredo with their breadsticks dipped in the sauce. OH YUMMY!
Z- Zoo animal? Monkeys! I could watch them all day. Someday, I would love to hold a baby monkey.

So there is my list. I hope to see some more lists posted soon! I love hearing things like this about other people!

What The Heck?

Seriously, what the heck!? I must be the worst mother in the entire world...

On Friday I was talking to Bill on the phone and Kate kept feeling her lower gums with her tongue. I thought she was just being silly, and so I thought I was being pretty funny too when I said, "Kate, do you have teeth in there or something?"

I stuck my finger in her mouth just out of curiosity, and she has her two bottom teeth! How dare she?! My other kids didn't even start getting teeth until about their first birthday. How could I have missed this one? I AM nursing after all. You would think I would have figured it out from that. But, nope, I am completely oblivious. And her teeth aren't just starting to come through a little bit. No, they are completely through! I feel like such a dumb mom! That does explain the butt rash for the last few weeks though.

I just can't believe it! But the funniest part of that was what Lana said. After she felt Kate's teeth she said, "Can we feed her M&M's and stuff now?" She loves her baby sister and just wants her to have the good food! I love it!

WHAT! I HAVE TWO TEETH!!!

I AM SO HAPPY ABOUT THAT! AND PROUD!

IT MAKES ME BUST A GUT TO MAKE
MY MOM FEEL LIKE AN IDIOT!!!
